Music is in his heart and has been a driving force from his teen years when he learned to play acoustic and electric guitar and began setting prose to melody. After his college days, he continued to weave music into his work and church life, composing and writing songs to salute the outdoors as a wildlife manager and naturalist and to honor his Christian faith. 

During his church role as a worship leader for 10 years, he helped establish a contemporary service and led a band for that service in which many of his original songs were performed. 

Gordon continues to compose and write, taking inspiration from his Walk to Emmaus, a 72-hour spiritual renewal program, and from scripture and prayer. His eclectic musical influences range from Simon and Garfunkel to Stryper. He gets most excited by playing bluesy rock with a funky groove.
